Honda HR-V

The Honda HR-V is the smallest Honda crossover but with a big heart. It is popular for its practicality and comfort. Its third generation was launched last year and it too should possess these characteristics.

The following is a review of its latest model, the 2024 Honda HR-V:

Powertrain and Numbers

The HR-V 2024 comes with a 2-liter engine that makes 158 hp and 138 lb-ft – the same motor found on the 2023 Honda Civic. This is mated to a CVT gearbox that sends power to the front wheels; all-wheel drive is an optional extra.

The resultant acceleration time is quite decent at around 9 seconds from 0 to 62 mph. The fuel economy ratings by the EPA state that this car can do 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway with FWD. With AWD, you can get 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

Reliability and Warranty

JD Power hasn’t rated the 2024 HRV for reliability yet, but last year’s model got a score of 75 out of 100, putting it at average. Meanwhile, Consumer Reports expects it to be more reliable than average. Both are good indicators of its reliability.

Honda offers coverage for 3 years/36k miles in the form of the limited warranty, and 5 years/60k miles based on the powertrain warranty. You can also expect complementary maintenance for 2 years/24k miles.

Verdict

The 2024 Honda HR-V is an impressive subcompact crossover SUV for many reasons. It drives well, is efficient, comfortable, and built well. It is also expected to be reliable and the aftersales are on point.
