2023 Honda CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid Review
For several decades, the Honda CR-V has been a staple of what the ideal crossover vehicle should be – reliable, efficient, and comfortable. Its latest model has just been released and it too should have the same qualities.
So, we’re going to take a look at one of its most popular trims – the Touring – to get a better idea of its offerings. The following is the 2023 Honda CRV Sport Touring review:
Features
The Honda CR-V 2023 represents the all-new 6th generation of Honda’s consumer-favorite midsize crossover. It offers 5 trim levels, 2 of which are hybrids. The exclusively hybrid Sport Touring is one of them and it is the very best offered by the CR-V nameplate.
Powertrain and Numbers
The all-new Honda CR-V Sport Touring comes with a 2-liter hybrid engine that produces 204 hp and 247 lb-ft. This engine is exclusive on the Sport and Sport Touring. Furthermore, the vehicle is available with a standard all-wheel-drive system.
You can expect the 2023 CR-V Sport Touring to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in less than 8 seconds. It is a decent time for the class. Also, Honda states that the Sport Touring model can tow up to 1000 lbs.
The CR-V Sport Touring is one of the best choices in the market as far as fuel economy is concerned. According to the EPA, it is good for 40 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. The combined fuel economy translates to 37 mpg, with a total range of 518 miles.

On the inside, you get an interior that’s similar to the acclaimed cabin design found on the 2023 Honda Civic. You get the amazing honeycomb dashboard that looks great, with buttons and knobs that feel quite sophisticated.
The CR-V Sport Touring is built really well and the material quality is excellent – you’ll find plenty of soft-touch surfaces inside. It is also very spacious as both the rows have been lauded for ample legroom and headroom – it’s considered to be the best in the class.
The cargo department is also where the Sport Touring rules the compact CUV category. It comes with a huge trunk that can be expanded by folding down the rear seats. The cubby storage also deserves praise.
The 2023 Honda CR-V Sport Touring has an interior full of niceties. You get leather-trimmed seats that can seat up to 5 people. You also get a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob for a premium touch. The interior colors available are black and gray.
There’s a lot of technology offered such as dual-zone climate control, push-button ignition, remote start (w/climate control), ambient lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a hands-free powered tailgate, a 7-inch instrumentation touchscreen and heating on the steering wheel.
The driver gets a 10-way power adjustable seat (w/two-position memory) and powered lumbar support, while the front passenger seat has 4-way power adjustability. Both the front seats also receive heating capabilities.
The infotainment system is based on a huge 9-inch touchscreen that is mated to a premium 12-speaker sound system by Bose. Other goodies include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, satellite navigation, wireless smartphone charging, and SiriusXM Radio.
The safety department is stacked. You get goodies such as automated emergency braking (w/pedestrian detection), forward collision warning, lane-departure warning (w/lane-keeping assist), blindspot monitoring (w/rear cross-traffic alert), and adaptive cruise control.
Also included are parking sensors, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, a multi-angle rearview camera, auto high beam, and some more technologies.

Exterior and Driving
On the outside, the 2023 Honda CRV gets an all-new look that makes it makes it look even more modern and stylish than before. The CRV Sport Touring is unique thanks to its gloss black roof rails and mirrors (heated), rain-sensing wipers, and dual exhausts.
It also comes with 19-inch gloss black alloys that give it a more aggressive look. There are also some components that it shares with the lower trims such as LED headlights and taillights, and body-colored door handles and roof-line spoiler.
The exterior colors available on the 2023 Honda CR-V Sport Touring are the following:
- Crystal Black Pearl
- Lunar Silver Metallic
- Modern Steel Metallic
- Obsidian Blue Pearl
- Platinum White Pearl
- Radiant Red Metallic II
- Sonic Gray Pearl
The 2023 CRV models including the Sport Touring have been described as smooth-driving, making it an ideal crossover for cruising. Its handling has also been praised, particularly its steering which is described as responsive. The visibility is great for the driver.
Then you have the quality of the ride, which is also great thanks to the finely tuned suspension system. It absorbs most of the bumps on the road, ensuring that the occupants don’t feel any vibration. The cabin also remains quiet, free from any noise on the road.

Reliability and Warranty
The 2023 Honda CRV gets a score of 82 out of 100 from JD Power, which puts it in the ‘Great’ category. To add to this, Consumer Reports also praises it and expects it to be more reliable than its peers. The car’s current owners also have nice things to say about its dependability.
As a bonus, you get a troika of warranties to cover you in case of trouble. The first is the limited warranty that’s good for 3 years/36k miles. Then there’s the powertrain components warranty that covers you for 5 years/60k miles.
There’s also a hybrid components warranty offered exclusively on the Sport trims. Finally, Honda gives you complimentary maintenance for 2 years/24k miles – it is one of the very few automakers that does this.
Verdict
The 2023 Honda CR-V is a masterpiece and its Touring trim is just out of this world. There’s no surprise as to why Car and Driver has ranked it atop the class. It has it all from power and style to luxury and reliability. This is truly a must-have vehicle.
